Monday: TLW present alternative book report projects
* Discuss and present individual alternative book report projects to the class.
* Turn in student copies of The Outsiders

Tuesday-Wednesday: TLW watch the movie version of The Outsiders

Thursday: TLW will complete 5 paragraph essay.
* Complete 5 paragraph essay choosing from one of 5 different topics relating to The Outsiders

Friday: TLW complete ThinkLink assessment test.

Monday-Wednesday: Because we met our demise last week, (and as a reward for their hard work), we are once again going to try to successfully make the 2000 mile jouney to Oregon. :o ) The students are learning key information relating to the Oregon Trail, and also enjoy the experience. Hopefully we’ll make it all the way this time!

Thurday: TLW define the key terms for Chapter 14
* Define and discuss the key terms for each section of Chapter 14

Friday: TLW discuss how new inventions changed manufacturing and farming in the North.
Chapter 14, Section 1, pages 408-411
* Read section 1 and summarize the main points
* Create an advertisement. Due Monday




Week 25: Feb. 11-14 Lang. Arts

Monday-Friday:
* Students will start reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Students will be given their own copy to use while we are reading the book, but please take care of them. You will be responsible for replacing the book if it is excessively damaged.
* A study guide will be issued on Monday, and students are responsible for completing it as we read. Periodic checks will be given during the week.
* Chapter quizzes will be given after every 2 chapters and a final project will be assigned before students finish the book.




Week 25: Feb. 11-15 SS

Monday: TLW review key terms from Chapter 13
* Define and discuss key terms for Chapter 13

Tuesday: TLW describe the role of mountain men in settling the Far West.
Chapter 13 , Section 1, pages 380-384
* Spanish
* Read section 1 orally while pointing out main ideas and discussing key terms
* Write a letter that a missionary might have sent east encouraging people to settle in the Oregon Country

Wednesday: TLW review life on the Oregon Trail
* Play “Oregon Trail” game as a class and explore the problem settlers experienced as they traveled

Thursday: TLW continue review of life on the Oregon Trail
* Continue game

Friday: TLW discuss American settlers in Texas.
Chapter 13, Section 2, pages 385-389
* Read orally section 2 discussing main ideas and key vocabulary
* Complete workbook pages 68 and 69
